It's not too surprising to me I have not posted too often to my blog. After all, I am a fairly private person and tend not to publicly share my personal thoughts or news. One thing which gets me riled up sometimes is everyone in my business and I don't just mean the big stuff. It's also getting into the little, everyday stuff which cranks me up for some reason. Does everybody really need to know, pass on through hearsay and comment on all aspects of ones life?
I sometimes wish I had the voice, rhythm and melody to break out into song and sing the Hank Williams, Jr. version of his famous Daddy's tune "Mind your own business".
I would describe myself as someone who is somewhat private yet sociable. I don't hang everything out on the line and let everyone see all my dirty laundry but sometimes share what brand of underwear I am wearing with my close friends or work acquaintances. I should clarify some work acquaintances have become friends. I have always found my employment choice of the day to be a great generator of friends. Work has also sourced a pool of just colleagues, different than acquaintances. To me, colleagues include people who you work with and have little choice or control to work with unless you decide to work elsewhere. Colleagues aren't bad. Well, some can be. I have been blessed to work with some of the smartest and brightest folks out there but sometimes you just don't want to open yourself up to some people or you prefer to carve out distinct networks of folks which to share your work or personal life information. Acquaintances are folks I have developed a budding relationship with flirting on the bubble between colleague and friend. They are fun folks to be around and check in with and share whats happening in their/your respective work and personal life - the high level snippets.
All said, I am fairly sociable. I enjoy getting out to lunch with a friend or a colleague. An occasional beer after work at the local watering hole is always welcomed and a usual hiding spot of mine. I am sometimes the catalyst pulling people together.
My darling wife recently asked me why haven't I posted regularly to my blog? I guess the preceding text describes some possible reasons/excuses. I have always been at a lose for what I believe are relevant topics. We had an "interesting" conversation during a drive to friends house recently for a BBQ. She was surprised by my silliness in the topics we discussed and random thoughts which come to my mind on occasion during the drive. She suggested I should blog more about the "everyday" and topics like our conversation. I guess there are some crazy thoughts which enters my head I could share.
So why did I set-up a blog anyway? I initially thought it would be a great way to share some information, funny stories, crazy thoughts, odd news, etc. with family and friends on a regular basis. Facebook kind of provided that vehicle and I didn't think anybody actually read my blog postings! Maybe.
I guess rejuvenating this blog would be a way to also connect with family and friends not on Facebook. At the very list, keeping active in any form of writing will help me improve my communication skills. AND with the birth of my first child expected in September, I imagine a long list of topics will come available.
